Job Requirements

  • Maintain weight not to exceed 250 pounds
  • be less than 70 years old
  • regular scheduled attendance
  • comply with all applicable laws and Air Methods' policies
  • able to perform essential functions satisfactorily
  • subject to drug and alcohol testing per DOT/FAA requirements
  • willingness to participate in ongoing training and safety programs

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • two to five years related experience and/or training
  • bachelor's degree preferred
  • minimum 2000 total flight hours
  • minimum 1500 flight hours in rotor wing category
  • 1000 hours pilot-in-command in rotor wing category
  • 500 hours rotor wing turbine time
  • 200 hours cross-country flight time with 50 hours at night
  • 100 hours unaided night flight as pilot in command or equivalent NVG hours
  • 50 hours actual or hood instrument time in flight and rotor wing category
  • commercial and instrument rating for category and class of aircraft
  • ATP rating in category meets requirement
  • first or second-class FAA medical certificate
  • pilots must have flown in category within previous 24 months
  • maintains positive interpersonal relationships with EMS, hospitals, and public

Job Duties

  • Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
  • complete pre-flight inspections verifying aircraft airworthiness
  • conduct thorough walk-around inspections before and after flights
  • maintain final authority over flight operations ensuring passenger and cargo safety
  • familiarize and coordinate with medical teams on aircraft systems and medical interiors
  • complete all required flight documentation accurately
  • perform detailed flight planning under short notice
  • participate in company meetings, projects, committees, and community outreach initiatives
  • perform other duties as assigned
