Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent
  • Two to five years related experience
  • Maintains weight not exceeding 250 pounds
  • Under 70 years old
  • Valid instrument rating
  • Valid FAA medical certificate
  • Regular scheduled attendance
  • Able to complete detailed flight planning
  • Familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with EMS and hospital staff

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • Two to five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues and EMS representatives
  • Pilots must have flown in category within previous 24 months
  • 2500 total flight hours with minimum 2000 flight hours in category
  • 1000 hours PIC in category
  • 500 hours rotor wing turbine time
  • 500 hours cross-country flight time including 50 hours at night
  • 100 hours unaided night as PIC (50 hours unaided minimum)
  • 75 hours actual or simulated instrument time with at least 50 in-flight hours
  • Instrument rating for category and class of aircraft
  • Fixed wing multiengine rating required for twin-engine aircraft
  • Commercial single-engine land certificate for single-engine aircraft
  • First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate

Job Duties

  • Operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
  • Completes pre-flight inspections verifying aircraft airworthiness
  • Maintains final authority on aircraft operations and safety
  • Ensures familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems
  • Completes required flight documentation
  • Conducts detailed flight planning with little notice
  • Participates in meetings, activities, and community outreach
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
