Job Requirements

  • 2500 total flight hours with minimum of 2000 flight hours in category
  • 1000 hours PIC in category
  • 500 hours rotor wing turbine time
  • 500 hours cross-country flight time, including at least 50 hours at night
  • 100 hours unaided night as PIC (50 hours may be substituted with 100 hours NVG time, but not below 50 hours unaided)
  • 75 hours actual or simulated instrument time with at least 50 hours in flight and 20 hours in actual instrument conditions in category
  • regular scheduled attendance
  • weight not to exceed 250 pounds
  • age less than 70 years old

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • two to five years related experience and/or training
  • bachelor's degree preferred
  • must maintain positive interpersonal relationships
  • pilots must have flown in category within previous 24 months
  • instrument rating for category and class of aircraft
  • fixed wing multiengine rating for twin-engine aircraft
  • commercial single-engine land certificate for single-engine aircraft
  • first or second class FAA medical certificate

Job Duties

  • Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
  • complete pre-flight inspections verifying aircraft airworthiness
  • serve as final authority for aircraft operation and safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment
  • maintain familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems of assigned and backup aircraft
  • ensure medical flight team is comfortable with medical interior and systems
  • complete all required documentation
  • conduct detailed flight planning with little notice
  • participate regularly in Air Methods meetings, projects, committees, and community outreach
  • perform other duties as assigned
