Job Requirements
- Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to placement
- Must be member of the National Guard or eligible for immediate membership
- Military grades CW2 through CW4
- Background investigation and federal employment suitability
- Must obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance
- Compliance with Lautenberg Amendment regarding domestic violence
- Must maintain US Army Class II Flight Physical
- Availability for travel in military and/or commercial aircraft
- Subject to uncommon tours of duty, rotational shifts and overtime
- Required to wear personal protective equipment
- Male applicants must comply with Military Selective Service Act registration requirements
Job Qualifications
- Experience that prepares the applicant for dual status technician duties and responsibilities
- Working experience in civilian or military aviation programs
- At least two years of specialized experience operating military aircraft, mission planning and preparation
- Experience reviewing and analyzing mission tasking, intelligence and weather information
- Experience filing flight plans and conducting crew briefings
- Experience conducting aircraft preflight inspections and equipment assessments
- Competence in training crew members in mission specific tasks
- Knowledge of flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives and mission tactics
- Experience with unit flying, explosive and ground safety programs
- Must be a rated pilot on flying status
- Qualified Night Vision Goggle Army Aviator
- Proficient pilot in UH-60 AIL, UH-60M or LUH-72 helicopters
- Federal Aviation Administration or accredited military aviation certifications
Job Duties
- Provide instruction, evaluation and examination of rated pilots, instructor pilots and aeroscout observers in flying techniques
- Perform preflight weather analysis, route and altitude selections, flight plan filing and preflight inspections
- Serve as Unit Trainer/Evaluator, instructor pilot or pilot in command on various helicopter models
- Conduct standardization flight evaluations and refresher training for air crew members
- Serve potentially in functional roles such as Instrument Flight Examiner, Standardization Instructor Pilot, Maintenance Test Pilot Evaluator, Aviation Safety Officer or Tactical Operations Officer
- Operate rotary wing aircraft for various mission types including airlift support, medical evacuations, fire suppression, rescue and civil authority support
- Ensure adherence to safety and regulatory policies during flight missions
- Perform other duties as assigned
