Job Requirements
- Experience in cleaning in hospital or industrial environment
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently
- Basic literacy skills to read, write and understand safety information
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Availability to work part-time night shifts including weekends and holidays
- Ability to manage time efficiently and complete assigned tasks
- Physical ability to perform manual cleaning tasks safely and effectively
Job Qualifications
- Cleaning experience in hospital or industrial setting
- Knowledge of sanitation principles and techniques preferred
- Ability to read and write to understand directions, warnings on cleaning supplies, and complete logs
- Interpersonal skills to be pleasant and courteous with patients, visitors, and staff
- Ability to pay close attention to detail for most of the workday
Job Duties
- Follow work schedule and perform all daily and weekly job tasks to meet department standards of cleanliness
- Understand and follow department procedures at all times
- Follow instructions and respond to work assignments from manager or lead person
- Provide thorough cleaning and restock supplies in assigned work areas including patient rooms, restrooms, common areas
- Manage work time efficiently and complete scheduled work by end of shift
- Inspect work area and perform necessary cleaning tasks independently
- Clean floors by dry and damp mopping including edges and behind equipment as needed
- Perform low and high dusting and keep vents dust free
- Remove trash from assigned areas at beginning and end of shift
- Spot wash walls or carpets as needed
- Polish stainless steel, brass, and other smooth surfaces as scheduled
- Maintain department equipment and notify supervisor of problems or unsafe conditions
- Maintain adequate par level of supplies and keep housekeeping cart and closet organized
- Attend hospital and department inservices and meetings as required
- Assist with timely cleaning of discharged beds in patient care areas
- Ensure cleaned rooms are well organized with correct chairs and patient guide at bedside
- Assist nursing staff with laundry bags
- Move equipment to and from patient rooms to storage areas
