Job Requirements
- high school diploma or GED or equivalent working knowledge
- one year of medical clerical experience preferably in hospital or physician office setting
- skills in organization, human relations, and communication
- working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy
- knowledge of office software and keyboarding skills
- ability to adhere to established policies and regulatory standards

- successful completion of an approved unit secretary program preferred

Job Duties
- perform receptionist and clerical duties to support operating efficiency and communication flow
- participate in resolving customer problems or collect necessary data and refer for resolution
- process patient admissions, record bed assignments, make face sheets and print patient labels
- order outside records from other facilities and physicians offices
- maintain complete patient records including admission, transfer, discharge information, progress notes, and consent forms
- ensure reports and chart forms are scanned and filed appropriately
- maintain supplies of patient education materials
- enter pending discharges and coordinate patient appointments for procedures prior to discharge
- process patient discharges
- manage inventory and requisition of office, dietary, and medical supplies
- monitor and track electronic equipment such as patient ID scanners and laptop computers ensuring accountability and functionality
- adhere to policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and professional standards
- provide excellent customer service consistently demonstrating core and leader behaviors
