Job Duties

  • Acts as receptionist by greeting staff, ancillary services, physicians, and the public and offers assistance as appropriate
  • answers telephone and patient intercom promptly and conveys messages accurately and appropriately
  • transcribes physician orders in a timely manner ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • maintains patient charts with adequate forms, verifying all labels and correct patient information
  • orders supplies and forms based on unit needs in a cost-effective manner
  • facilitates admissions, transfers, and discharges according to instructions from charge nurse, physician, and discharge planner
  • handles patient medical information with emphasis on confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
