Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Unit Coordinator/Clerk program or one-year related job experience or college coursework
  • BLS certification
  • Proficient in typing, spelling, and medical terminology
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work night, day, or casual shifts up to 19.99 hours per week

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Unit Coordinator/Clerk program or one-year related job experience or college coursework
  • BLS certification
  • Proficient in typing, spelling, and medical terminology
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Capable of multitasking and prioritizing work
  • Familiarity with hospital information systems

Job Duties

  • Performs receptionist/secretary activities for assigned area embodying the principles of service
  • Greets patients, guests, and staff in a courteous manner
  • Interacts with and provides services for patients and their families appropriate to the specialty and age of the patient
  • Utilizes professional telephone etiquette
  • Promptly answers telephones and intercoms
  • Accurately routes calls and messages to appropriate individuals or departments
  • Uses basic computer skills and printing equipment to retrieve and process clinical information
  • Maintains unit medical records as outlined by policy
  • Maintains equipment and supplies on assigned unit including inventory and ordering
  • Assists in patient room preparation, serving meals, and transporting patients
  • Supports continuous quality improvement activities
  • Participates in unit/departmental meetings and supports hospital philosophy and goals
