Job Requirements

  • Ten or more years of experience in environmental remediation, construction, or general industry safety
  • Board of Certified Safety Professionals certification such as CSP, ASP, or CHST
  • knowledge of OSHA safety standards (29 CFR 1910/1926), DOE safety standards (10 CFR 851), California regulations (CCR Title 8), and ACGIH guidelines
  • experience with USACE Safety and Health Manual (EM385-1-1)
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training with updates
  • OSHA 8-hour Supervisor training
  • OSHA 30-hour training (OSHA 500 preferred)
  • trained in first-aid, CPR, BBP, and AED
  • experience conducting exposure monitoring and air sampling
  • proficient with computer tracking and documenting
  • ability to interact effectively with clients and regulatory personnel

Job Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of experience in environmental remediation or construction industry safety
  • Board of Certified Safety Professionals certification such as CSP, ASP, or CHST
  • preferred certifications include BGC Certified Industrial Hygienist and IHMM Certified Hazardous Materials Manager
  • in-depth knowledge of OSHA safety standards, DOE safety standards, California Code of Regulations, and ACGIH guidelines
  • experience with USACE Safety and Health Requirements Manual
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training with yearly updates
  • OSHA 8-hour Supervisor training
  • OSHA 30-hour training with preference for OSHA 500
  • certified in first-aid, CPR, BBP, and AED
  • experienced in exposure monitoring and air sampling
  • proficient in computer skills for tracking and documentation
  • ability to interact professionally with clients and regulatory agencies
  • strong communication, conflict-resolution, and problem-solving skills
  • self-starter with ability to work autonomously and prioritize tasks

Job Duties

  • Developing project safety plans based on company and regulatory policies and procedures
  • setting appropriate safety standards and implementing them
  • designating proper personal protective equipment levels and assuring availability
  • conducting corporate and site-specific safety training and managing the learning management system
  • tracking and managing employee involvement in medical monitoring programs
  • performing site safety audits to assure implementation of project plans and safety procedures
  • performing or arranging industrial hygiene monitoring and implementation
  • conducting accident investigations and root cause analyzes
  • tracking safety metrics and reporting key performance indicators
  • responding to employee questions on the Health and Safety Program
  • advising the HSE Director on safety program effectiveness and recommending improvements
