Job Requirements

  • hSD or GED
  • certified development associate (CDA) certification with infant toddler endorsement
  • relevant work experience with infants, toddlers, or preschoolers
  • CPR and first aid certification preferred
  • experience working in a non-profit preferred

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or ged
  • certified development associate (cda) certification with infant toddler endorsement
  • relevant work experience with infants, toddlers or preschoolers
  • familiarity with non-profit organizations preferred
  • ability to follow standards of NAEYC, CACFP, USDA, and Tennessee Day Care Licensing
  • strong communication and teamwork skills
  • experience mentoring families and working with children with special needs
  • knowledge of child development best practices
  • ability to assist in nutrition service and meal preparation

Job Duties

  • assist classroom teachers in improving education quality
  • assist the nutrition staff with preparing meals
  • provide classroom coverage during teacher absences and breaks
  • remain flexible and organized to support the Porter-Leath community
  • perform duties according to standards set by NAEYC, CACFP, USDA, Tennessee Day Care Licensing, and Porter-Leath
  • act as primary caregiver for one group of children including special needs when assigned
  • serve as a role model and mentor to clients and families
  • keep supervisors informed of programmatic issues
  • collaborate with staff to create a safe and enriching environment
  • assist in delivering health, nutrition, disability, education, and family support services
  • implement daily education procedures and ensure appropriate child activities
  • communicate with nutrition and health staff to meet special dietary needs
  • prepare and serve meals according to menu and USDA guidelines
  • maintain attendance records and meal counts
  • conduct home visits and parent-teacher conferences
  • assist with ongoing child evaluations
  • perform other duties as assigned
