Job Requirements
- High school diploma
- Two years of relevant work experience with preschoolers ages 3-5
- Maintain a valid driver’s license with good driving record and appropriate insurance
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Work in a non-smoking environment
- Willingness to follow standards set by Head Start and regulatory agencies
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Child Development Associate credential preferred
- Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
- Previous Head Start experience preferred
- Two years of relevant work experience with preschoolers ages 3-5
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred
Job Duties
- Perform according to Head Start, NAEYC, CACFP, USDA, Tennessee Child Care Licensing and Porter-Leath standards in food service and classroom
- Provide classroom coverage for Teachers and Assistant Teachers when absent
- Assume responsibility as primary caregiver for a group of children including those with special needs
- Act as a role model and mentor to clients and families
- Inform Supervisor and Manager of programmatic issues promptly
- Collaborate with staff to create a positive, enriching, and safe environment
- Assist in delivering health, nutrition, disability, education, and family support services
- Implement daily educational procedures and ensure activities meet children’s emotional, social, intellectual, and physical needs
- Coordinate with nutrition and health staff to meet special diet requirements
- Prepare and serve meals according to menu, USDA guidelines, and sanitation standards
- Maintain records of attendance, meal counts, and produce necessary reports
- Conduct parent/teacher conferences and home visits
- Assist with child evaluations, screenings, assessments, and maintain student files
- Attend professional development sessions and implement learned strategies
- Perform additional duties as assigned
