Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • one year cooking experience preferred
  • pass health physical screen and TB test
  • ability to lift 45 pounds
  • pass enhanced criminal background check
  • pass drug test and submit to random drug and alcohol tests
  • obtain ServeSafe Food Handlers certification within 90 days of hire and maintain certification

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • preferred one year of cooking experience in an institutional kitchen
  • ability to pass a health physical screen and TB test
  • ability to lift 45 pounds
  • must pass enhanced criminal background check per state, federal, and FOCAF Head Start standards
  • must pass drug test and submit to random drug and alcohol testing
  • must obtain and maintain ServeSafe Food Handlers certification within 90 days of hire

Job Duties

  • Assist in preparing meals for Head Start participants following established menus
  • conduct meal counts and compile information on digital platforms
  • maintain sanitary conditions in kitchen and food storage areas
  • compile reports on meals prepared and served
  • ensure dietary reports are accurate and up to date
  • assist with meal prepping and dishwashing
  • safely transport food and kitchen supplies to other center locations
  • maintain kitchen facilities cleanliness and compliance with health regulations
  • assure special dietary needs are met and allergens avoided
  • engage in professional development and training
  • operate kitchen appliances such as food processor, dishwasher, stove, and mixer
  • adhere to policies, procedures, and safety practices of Head Start and FOCAF
  • communicate progress and any issues to supervisors
  • respond to communications courteously and promptly
  • use critical thinking to maintain safe environments for all
  • assist with meal coordination for multiple locations
  • maintain accurate and timely dietary documentation
