Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Certified Food Manager Certification required or must obtain within one month of hire
  • minimum age of 18 years
  • at least one year of relevant experience or education in large-scale food production
  • knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures
  • basic computer skills desired
  • availability for some night and weekend work
  • reliable self-transportation with valid Texas driver's permit
  • ability to maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record
  • ability to report non-compliance to supervisor

Job Qualifications

  • strong knowledge of large-scale food production
  • working knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures for large scale kitchen production
  • basic computer skills
  • ability to work occasional nights and weekends
  • reliable self-transportation and valid Texas motor vehicle operator's permit

Job Duties

  • Supervise all food service operations
  • maintain food service sanitation standards
  • assemble food, dishes, utensils, and supplies for meal preparation
  • prepare high-quality nutritional food in sufficient quantity
  • prepare menus and follow standardized recipes
  • adhere to sanitation and safety procedures
  • ensure food temperatures meet USDA guidelines and kitchen areas are sanitary
  • wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils using approved methods
  • return all items to proper storage
  • complete routine maintenance of kitchen and equipment including weekly deep cleaning
  • order or shop for food and maintain inventory
  • ensure special dietary needs of children are met
  • prepare all meals including breakfast, lunch, and snacks
  • coordinate menu planning with daily classroom schedule and special activities
  • prepare paperwork for USDA and program guidelines
  • ensure compliance with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services regulations
  • ensure Attendance and Daily Meal Production forms are completed weekly
  • submit Claim for Reimbursement and worksheet monthly
  • submit Time Distribution Report monthly
  • ensure enrollment documents are completed and submitted monthly for CACFP
  • maintain eligibility documentation for CACFP
  • report any non-compliance with SPCAA procedures
  • promote parent engagement activities
  • document In-Kind non-federal share contributions
