Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • certified Food Manager Certification or scheduled for training within one month
  • be at least 18 years old
  • relevant experience or education in large-scale food production
  • knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures
  • basic computer skills desired
  • available for a light amount of night and weekend work
  • possession of valid Texas driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • ability to maintain physical stamina for standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 25 lbs
  • able to work in noisy environments
  • capacity to work flexible hours
  • strong attention to safety and health standards
  • willingness to assist in classroom and parent engagement activities

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • certified Food Manager Certification required
  • be at least 18 years old
  • strong knowledge of large-scale food production from one-year relevant experience or education
  • working knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures for large scale kitchen production
  • basic computer skills
  • available for light night and weekend work
  • possess ability to provide reliable self-transportation capable of regional travel
  • valid Texas motor vehicle operator’s permit and maintain satisfactory MVR
  • ability to work with children and in close quarters
  • strong organizational and documentation skills

Job Duties

  • Oversee all food service operations
  • maintain food service sanitation standards
  • assemble food, dishes, utensils, and supplies for meal preparation
  • prepare high-quality nutritional food in sufficient quantity
  • prepare menus and follow standardized recipes
  • adhere to sanitation and safety procedures
  • ensure food temperatures meet USDA guidelines and kitchen areas are sanitary
  • wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils using approved sanitation methods
  • return all items to proper storage
  • complete routine kitchen and equipment maintenance including deep cleaning
  • order or shop for food and maintain inventory
  • meet special dietary needs of children
  • prepare all meals including breakfast, lunch, and snacks
  • coordinate menu planning with daily classroom schedule and special activities
  • prepare paperwork for USDA and program guidelines
  • follow Texas Department of Family and Protective Services regulations to maintain license
  • complete attendance and daily meal production forms weekly
  • submit claim for reimbursement and worksheets monthly
  • submit time distribution report monthly
  • maintain and submit enrolled, new enrolled, and drop lists monthly
  • maintain eligibility for CACFP food program
  • maintain CACFP application and documentation on file
  • report any observed procedural risks
  • promote parent engagement activities
  • document In-Kind non-federal share
