Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous experience in routesetting or related climbing role
- strong leadership and communication skills
- ability to manage a team and coordinate schedules
- experience with routesetting software and equipment maintenance
- knowledge of climbing grading and route development
- ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- physical ability to climb and set routes
- willingness to engage with and support the climbing community
- commitment to company values of growth, connection, and integrity
Job Qualifications
- Extensive setting and climbing experience in a commercial climbing facility
- highly adaptable to dynamic and fast paced environments
- proficient in organizational tools such as web-based applications and MS Office
- proven leadership and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities
- refined understanding of climbing movement and difficulty grading
- ability to test and evaluate accessibility, quality, and style of climbs
- experience providing and receiving constructive criticism
- ability to thrive in a team environment and collaborate across departments
- professional demeanor and creativity within structured systems
- preferred ability to climb V8 and 5.12+ in multiple styles
Job Duties
- Provide high quality climbing routes to a wide variety of skill levels and clientele in a timely manner
- set 2-4 days per week to meet full-time hourly requirements
- assign project hours including general setting maintenance, cleaning, and organization
- oversee and mentor the routesetting team including training, schedule planning, and competition setting
- interview and train new setters and provide ongoing mentorship
- manage routesetting equipment and wall maintenance including tool inspection and ordering
- partner with Gym Director and leadership to maintain route quality, grade distribution, and rotation
- track routesetting progress and update KAYA software
- stay current with trends in the climbing community and promote professional development
- engage with community members as an ambassador of climbing
