Job Requirements

  • 7+ years nonprofit or corporate philanthropy or community relations
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with issues related to impact philanthropy, community engagement, sustainability and social impact
  • Strong ability to drive progress, shape strategy and promote innovation in a dynamic environment
  • Proven project management skills, with excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to serve as a strong representative for Kroger philanthropy and community engagement
  • Ability to coach, counsel and collaborate with business unit public affairs managers
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of experience with nonprofit or corporate philanthropy or community relations
  • Any related financial portfolio and/or account management
  • Working knowledge of IRS regulations governing charitable giving programs
  • Professional certificates/other training in nonprofit leadership

Job Duties

  • Develop and lead multi-year strategy for enterprise community engagement and impact philanthropy, including The Kroger Co. Foundation and The Kroger Co. Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation
  • manage related charitable operations, including programmatic support, events, fundraising and public reporting
  • Lead company-wide charitable giving with regional and division Communications & Public Affairs managers
  • oversee combined annual grant-making and measure positive impacts
  • Serve as executive director for the company’s nonprofit foundation Board of Directors
  • Align giving in ways that advance Kroger’s Zero Hunger | Zero Waste impact plan and other strategic and business-aligned priorities to strengthen our communities
  • Work independently with legal advisers, national vendors, accountants and others to align with federal and state laws and best practices for charitable giving
  • Ensure compliance with all IRS regulations governing charitable programs and oversee annual foundation audits conducted by an independent auditing firm
  • Collaborate with internal teams to maximize the value of community programs
  • work across the company to share expertise and provide input on best practices
  • Monitor foundation asset investments with in-house and third-party advisers
  • Lead production of annual foundation reports
  • Represent the company and foundations at events and conferences
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties
  • complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports
  • Travel independently
