Job Requirements

  • 18 years or older
  • high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • experience in kitchen including food preparation and kitchen routine
  • bilingual Spanish/English or Navajo/English preferred
  • ability to obtain First Aid and BLS/CPR certifications within 30 days of hire
  • successful completion of health exam and annual health exams thereafter
  • TB test and testing upon exposure
  • criminal records check

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • experience in kitchen food preparation and routine
  • bilingual Spanish/English or Navajo/English preferred
  • ability to obtain First Aid and BLS/CPR certifications within 30 days
  • knowledge of USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program standards preferred
  • good organizational and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare meals according to menus
  • oversee all phases of kitchen operation in compliance with USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program, Head Start/Early Head Start Nutrition Performance Standards, and New Mexico Child Care licensing regulations
  • maintain kitchen cleanliness and safety standards
  • manage kitchen staff and coordinate food preparation activities
  • monitor food quality and ensure proper portion control
  • follow health and safety protocols including food handling and storage
  • assist with inventory management and ordering supplies
