Job Requirements

  • 18 years or older
  • high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • experience in kitchen work including food preparation and kitchen routine
  • bilingual Spanish/English or Navajo/English preferred
  • ability to obtain First Aid and BLS/CPR certifications within 30 days of hire
  • successful completion of health exam and annual exams thereafter
  • TB test and upon exposure
  • criminal records check

  • ability to obtain First Aid and BLS/CPR certifications within 30 days of hire
  • strong understanding of food safety protocols
  • ability to work flexible hours and possible reassignment

Job Duties

  • Prepare meals according to prescribed menus
  • oversee all phases of kitchen operations ensuring compliance with USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program standards
  • adhere to Head Start and Early Head Start Nutrition Performance Standards
  • maintain compliance with New Mexico Child Care licensing regulations
  • possibly reassign to various centers as program operational needs arise
  • ensure kitchen cleanliness and safety at all times
  • manage food inventory and order supplies as needed
