Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • current State of Minnesota Certified Food Manager or ability to become certified within 3 months
  • current driver’s license
  • access to an insured vehicle
  • one year of quantity cooking experience

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • current State of Minnesota Certified Food Manager or ability to become certified within 3 months
  • experience in quantity cooking
  • knowledge of food service equipment operation
  • ability to manage kitchen staff and volunteers
  • excellent communication skills
  • familiarity with food safety and health regulations

Job Duties

  • Plan, organize, and direct preparation of meals
  • provide instructions to kitchen staff and volunteers
  • assure meal preparation meets menu requirements and program standards
  • serve meals to congregate diners and Meals on Wheels diners on a timely basis
  • ensure compliance with Minnesota Department of Health and OSHA requirements
  • identify and resolve workplace hazards
  • train staff for safety and compliance
  • conduct regular inspections and monitor cleaning schedules
  • prepare wholesome meals according to program guidelines
  • order, store, and record food purchases and donations
  • maintain food inventory and storage according to Minnesota Food Code
  • inspect kitchen equipment
  • communicate regularly with Site Councils and internal staff
  • participate in Site Council meetings
  • implement agency policies and procedures
  • stay informed on the Older Americans Act and Minnesota Board on Aging regulations
