Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • experience in food preparation or school food service preferred but not mandatory

Job Duties

  • Prepare breakfast and lunch to include scratch cooking
  • plan and monitor prepping and preparing fresh fruits and vegetables daily for lunch and FFVP
  • monitor tray accuracy and ensure items on the tray meet reimbursable meal requirements
  • maintain daily production records for breakfast, lunch, after-school snack, and FFVP
  • assist with dishwashing and clean-up of the kitchen area throughout the day and after meals
  • properly wash and sort dirty dishes and keep the dish area free of clutter and organized
  • properly wash, sanitize, stack, and store trays, silverware, pots, and pans
  • change water in sinks when used and use proper soap/chemical dilutions
  • maintain cleanliness in the kitchen consistent with health department standards
  • order groceries and supplies as needed weekly from the Food Service Director
  • assist in unloading truck deliveries
  • check in all deliveries by verifying and signing invoices
  • receive, put away, rotate, and store items in an organized and timely manner
  • report any substandard quality of food to the Food Service Director immediately
  • assist in checking expiration dates on all inventory items
  • collect money for breakfast, lunch, and ala carte and properly record it
  • help students enter lunch numbers and input lunch items presented by students and adults
  • run daily reports and balance with money received
  • report any problems or discrepancies to the Cashier Manager promptly
  • demonstrate organization and professionalism in job responsibilities
  • participate in food service staff meetings and conferences
  • complete annual training to meet Professional Standard hours
  • greet students, faculty, staff, and visitors courteously
  • maintain positive rapport with students, staff, parents, and community
  • cooperate with coworkers and other personnel courteously
  • dress appropriately for the position including hairnet, cap, apron, and gloves as required
  • accept constructive criticism and strive to improve performance
  • maintain confidentiality in school operations
  • report any issues or accidents immediately to the Food Service Director or building principal
  • adhere to applicable state and federal laws, board policies, and administrative rules
  • communicate professionally and respectfully with Food Service Director, coworkers, building staff, and delivery personnel
