Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to safely lift and transport patients and supplies up to 100 pounds
  • Valid Utah driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Ability to obtain RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to work evening shifts
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in varying environmental conditions
  • Compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Ability to complete criminal background check and drug screening

Job Qualifications

  • Current, valid Utah driver’s license at time of hire with no moving violations in past two years
  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through University of Utah Health RQI system obtained within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle preferred
  • Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations
  • Ability to operate EPIC patient transport system
  • Ability to handle physical demands of the role
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • Transfers patients from one area to another by wheelchair, bed, or stretcher
  • Assists in the transport of essential supplies during traumas and cardiac arrests
  • Handles items such as IV bags, oxygen masks, oxygen tanks, urine drainage bags, blood bags, and medical monitoring devices attached to patients during transport
  • Transports expired patients to the morgue by stretcher
  • Initiates calls upon patient discharge to alert all departments involved in bed turnover
  • Picks up and delivers routine and STAT laboratory specimens, blood, and medical items
  • Properly uses EPIC patient transport system
  • Collaborates with other employees to ensure patient and department needs are met
  • Parks and retrieves patient vehicles safely and professionally
  • Directs and assists patients and visitors entering and exiting hospital parking areas and lobby
  • Documents all vehicle tag information, claim numbers, and key storage accurately
  • Ensures vehicle condition is maintained
  • Maintains clear staging areas and smooth traffic flow in parking areas
  • Performs simple repairs to parking control equipment and assists with minor vehicle repairs
  • Coordinates with Parking Services and security to patrol and enforce parking rules
  • Addresses lighting and safety issues in parking areas
  • Assists in emergency situations with traffic control
  • Investigates and reports parking accidents
  • Removes snow and ice from hospital entrances and terraces
