Job Requirements

  • Must present a professional image with no visible body art including tattoos, facial, multiple or upper ear piercing, gauge piercings or extreme hair color or style while in uniform and in public areas
  • Vertical reach of 82 inches
  • Satisfactorily complete annual FAA-approved re-certification provided by Hawaiian Airlines
  • Flight attendants must be able to stand for four to seventeen hours, including stooping, twisting, pulling and pushing cabin equipment
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds from floor to above shoulder height
  • Comfortable being in a swimming pool with a life vest during emergency training and in water during inflight emergency
  • Able to properly secure oneself in jump seat with harness without seat belt extension
  • Successfully complete FAA-approved unpaid eight-week intensive training program
  • Successfully pass tuberculosis (TB) test
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and able to secure applicable visas for travel to countries served by Hawaiian Airlines
  • Must possess legal right to travel from all countries served by Hawaiian Airlines
  • Travel documents must remain valid throughout all phases of training and employment
  • Able to work alternative schedules including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Minimum age of 21
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

Job Qualifications

  • Two years of direct customer experience in the hospitality or airline industry or four years of customer contact and customer service issue resolution with the general public in industries such as retail, education, health care, and/or professional services
  • Proficient in speaking business level Korean and reading Korean characters (Hangul)
  • Ability to learn and maintain current knowledge and competency of emergency procedures in accordance with Hawaiian and FAA regulations
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to effectively diffuse and resolve difficult customer situations
  • Able to serve alcohol
  • Able to relocate within the state of Hawaii or the continental U.S.
  • Able to read, write, and speak English proficiently
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum age of 21
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Job Duties

  • Attend preflight briefings to review flight details including weather, route, altitude, emergency procedures, crew coordination, flight duration, and onboard services
  • Prepare aircraft cabin and ensure readiness for boarding and departure
  • Greet guests warmly, direct them to assigned seats, and assist with stowing carry-on luggage
  • Respond to flight-related questions and provide prompt, courteous service throughout the flight
  • Demonstrate the use of safety equipment such as seat belts, oxygen masks, and life jackets
  • Monitor guest compliance with safety regulations and address infractions professionally and effectively
  • Direct and assist guests during emergency procedures, including evacuations
  • Administer first aid when necessary and complete written and verbal reports of any emergency or safety-related incidents
  • Provide consistent food and beverage service according to airline procedures
  • Collect and reconcile payments for onboard purchases including meals, alcoholic beverages, and duty-free items
  • Prepare guests and cabin for landing by following established procedures
  • Ensure cabin is secure and assist with deplaning as needed
  • Successfully complete annual FAA-approved re-certification and maintain current knowledge of emergency procedures per FAA and airline regulations
  • Collaborate effectively with crew members to deliver a seamless and pleasant guest experience
  • Recognize and escalate potential issues and meet physical demands of flying at high altitudes and working varied schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Respond promptly and pleasantly to guest inquiries, requests and complaints while aboard the flight
  • Assist ill or incapacitated passengers and fellow crew members during emergency
  • Evacuate the aircraft in heavy, dense smoke during a cabin fire
  • Access, handle and operate oxygen bottles, fire extinguishers and other emergency equipment
  • Remove and lift emergency cabin windows weighing up to 60 pounds
  • Jump down the emergency slide from height of approximately 24.5 feet
