Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two years of direct customer service experience in hospitality or airline industry or four years in related public service industries
  • Vertical reach of 82 inches
  • Ability to complete annual FAA-approved re-certification
  • Ability to learn and maintain emergency procedure competency
  • Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills
  • Must be physically capable of standing for up to 17 hours and lifting 25 pounds
  • Comfortable swimming during emergency training
  • Ability to secure in a jump seat without extension
  • Completion of an eight-week unpaid FAA-approved training program
  • Ability to serve alcohol
  • Willingness to relocate within Hawaii or continental U.S.
  • Proficient in English reading, writing, and speaking
  • Successful tuberculosis test
  • Valid passport and travel visa eligibility for all served countries
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Minimum age of 21
  • Professional appearance without visible body art or extreme piercings when in uniform
  • Availability to work varied schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must obtain and maintain airport SIDA badge for airport access
  • Union-represented position
  • FAA standards and drug testing compliance.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two years of direct customer experience in the hospitality or airline industry OR four years of customer contact and service issue resolution experience in public-facing industries such as retail, education, or health care
  • Strong customer service skills with ability to diffuse and resolve difficult situations
  • Ability to learn and maintain knowledge of emergency procedures per FAA regulations
  • Successful completion of FAA-approved, unpaid eight-week training program provided by Hawaiian Airlines
  • Ability to stand for long periods, perform stooping, twisting, pushing and pulling cabin equipment
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds from floor to above shoulder height
  • Ability to swim and be comfortable in water during emergency training
  • Ability to secure oneself in a jump seat with harness
  • Strong communication skills with proficiency in English
  • Possession of a valid passport and ability to secure travel visas
  • Legal right to work in the U.S.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.

Job Duties

  • Attend preflight briefings to review flight details including weather, route, altitude, emergency procedures, crew coordination, flight duration, and onboard services
  • Prepare aircraft cabin and ensure readiness for boarding and departure
  • Greet guests warmly, direct them to assigned seats, and assist with stowing carry-on luggage
  • Respond to flight-related questions and provide prompt, courteous service throughout the flight
  • Demonstrate the use of safety equipment such as seat belts, oxygen masks, and life jackets
  • Monitor guest compliance with safety regulations and address infractions professionally and effectively
  • Direct and assist guests during emergency procedures, including evacuations
  • Administer first aid when necessary and complete written and verbal reports of any emergency or safety-related incidents
  • Provide consistent food and beverage service according to airline procedures
  • Collect and reconcile payments for onboard purchases including meals, alcoholic beverages, and duty-free items
  • Prepare guests and cabin for landing by following established procedures
  • Ensure cabin is secure and assist with deplaning as needed
  • Successfully complete annual FAA-approved re-certification and maintain current knowledge of emergency procedures per FAA and airline regulations
  • Collaborate effectively with crew members to deliver a seamless and pleasant guest experience
  • Maintain professionalism, recognize and escalate potential issues, and meet physical demands of flying at high altitudes and working varied schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Provide prompt and pleasant responses to guest inquiries, requests and complaints while aboard the flight
  • Perform emergency duties including assisting ill or incapacitated passengers and crew, evacuating the aircraft during emergencies, handling oxygen bottles, fire extinguishers and other emergency equipment, removing and lifting emergency cabin windows, and using emergency slides
  • All job duties including emergencies are essential functions of the flight attendant job.
