Job Requirements

  • college degree
  • at least two to three years experience in the travel industry with emphasis on the Japanese market preferred
  • knowledge of special interest tours
  • knowledge of Japanese corporate incentive tours (MICE) operations
  • strong bilingual English and Japanese communication skills
  • working knowledge of Hawaii's tourism infrastructure and Japanese culture
  • ability to work independently and cooperatively
  • proficiency with computers and office software
  • knowledge of JTB's in-house systems
  • valid driver's license with clean abstract

Job Qualifications

  • college degree
  • minimum two to three years experience in the travel industry with emphasis on the Japanese market preferred
  • knowledge of special interest tours preferred
  • knowledge of Japanese corporate incentive tours (MICE) and operational experience preferred
  • ability to communicate professionally in English and Japanese, both written and verbal
  • working knowledge of Hawaii's tourism infrastructure
  • understanding of Japanese tour characteristics, culture and customs
  • ability to work independently and cooperatively
  • proficiency with basic computer systems, software, application programs, presentation programs, email and office equipment
  • working knowledge of JTB's proprietary computer applications and systems
  • valid driver's license with clean abstract

Job Duties

  • research and review customer requirements
  • meet with tour escorts or organizers to promote tours
  • attend site inspections and meetings
  • check availability of hotels, banquets, restaurants and other venues
  • negotiate prices to support sales offices
  • plan, sell, organize, arrange and coordinate group tours and special events
  • input data into TOGO system
  • contact and consult with business partners to book services
  • transmit tour details to internal departments and sales offices in Japan
  • provide updated information about hotels, banquets and new products to increase tour profit
  • coordinate and conduct sales efforts of tourism and events
  • review procedures and improve operational effectiveness
  • assist with handling group tours, events, and related projects
  • serve as backup in absence of assistant manager
  • assist with Japanese or English translations
  • perform other duties as assigned
