Job Requirements

HS diploma or GED or equivalent
completion of company orientation upon hire
food safety and sanitation training upon hire
ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
ability to work with customers attentively
ability to perform various physical tasks such as standing, walking, reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, stair climbing, pivoting, twisting, pushing, pulling, pinching, and fine motor movements
demonstrated ability to lift 50-55 lbs and manage more than 65-70 lbs depending on department
willingness to perform duties in wet, cold, hot, and noisy environments

Knowledge of computer systems and equipment such as PC, symbol, scales, and label machine

ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

Provide superior customer service
take orders from customers by telephone or in person
answer customer questions regarding products and assist with selections
prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product effectively
slice, package, label, rotate, and cull products for poor quality
assist in technical areas such as basic set-up and clean-up processes
use suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
clean and sanitize display cases
operate and maintain equipment properly
comply with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
comply with department and store operating procedures
record production and shrink to aid in production planning in bakery
assist in baking, frying, and decorating in bakery
cull bakery products for poor quality and expiration dates
take care of service counter customers in deli
use ordering system applications
use Fresh Production Planner
perform inventory management processes (MSI, PAW) as required
ensure catering orders are prepared and ready for customer pickup if applicable
perform sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers
serve and package products at customer requests in prepared foods
educate customers on preparation and reheating instructions of prepared foods
prepackage condiments for prepared food items
cut, slice, dice, and chop food for chef preparation
