Job Requirements
- HS diploma or GED or equivalent
- Completion of company orientation upon hire
- Food safety and sanitation training upon hire
- Ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment performing detailed and precise tasks
- Ability to work with customers and stay attentive to their needs
- Physical ability to constantly reach at waist and grasp
- Frequently stand, walk, reach at shoulder, bend
- Occasionally sit, reach overhead, reach at knee, reach at floor, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, stair climb, pivot, twist, push or pull with arms, pinch, perform fine motor movements, shoulder abduction
- Ability to occasionally be exposed to wet, cold, hot conditions and loud noise
- Demonstrate the ability to lift up to 55 lbs and manage in excess of 65 lbs depending on department
- Willingness to break down heavy items or ask for assistance to maintain safe lifting practices

Job Duties
- Provide superior customer service
- Take orders from customers by telephone or in person
- Answer customer questions regarding products and assist with selections
- Prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product effectively
- Slice, package, label, rotate, and cull products for poor quality
- Assist in technical areas as needed such as basic set-up and clean-up processes
- Use suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
- Clean and sanitize display cases
- Operate and maintain equipment properly
- Comply with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- Comply with department and store operating procedures
- Record production and shrink to aid in production planning (bakery)
- Assist in technical areas like baking, frying, and decorating (bakery)
- Cull bakery products for poor quality and expiration dates (bakery)
- Take care of service counter customers (deli)
- Use ordering system applications (deli)
- Use Fresh Production Planner (deli)
- Perform inventory management processes as required (deli)
- Prepare catering orders for customer pickup (deli)
- Perform sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers (deli)
- Serve and package prepared food products at customer request
- Educate customers on preparation and reheating instructions of prepared foods
- Prepackage condiments for prepared food items
- Cut, slice, dice, chop food in preparation for chef
