Job Requirements

  • Maintain weight under 250 pounds
  • be under 70 years old
  • commercial pilot license valid for category and class
  • current FAA medical certificate first or second class
  • meet flight hour requirements for VFR or IFR programs including total flight time, pilot-in-command time, rotor wing turbine time, cross-country and night flying hours
  • associate degree or equivalent education and experience
  • ability to perform all essential functions
  • willingness to participate in required drug and alcohol testing
  • strong interpersonal skills
  • able to perform detailed flight planning with little notice

Job Qualifications

  • Commercial pilot with current experience flying in the category for a commercial operator or military within the previous 24 months
  • maintains positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public
  • extensive flight experience in rotary-wing aircraft including 2000 flight hours and 1500 hours in category for VFR, 2500 flight hours and 2000 in category for IFR
  • 1000 hours pilot-in-command in category
  • 500 hours rotor wing turbine time
  • night flying experience including unaided night and night vision goggle operations
  • commercial and instrument ratings
  • ATP rating in category
  • first or second class FAA medical certificate
  • associate degree or equivalent experience
  • bachelor’s degree preferred

Job Duties

  • Operate Air Methods' aircraft in a safe and legal manner
  • complete pre-flight inspections and verify airworthiness by signing off Daily Flight Log
  • conduct aircraft walk-arounds before and after each flight
  • maintain final authority over flight operations and safety for passengers, cargo, and equipment
  • ensure familiarity with aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft and support medical team comfort
  • complete required documentation
  • conduct detailed flight planning with minimal notice
  • participate in company meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach
  • prioritize safety in all flight operations
