Job Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent education and experience
  • Two to five years of related flight experience
  • Maintains maximum weight of 250 pounds
  • Less than 70 years old
  • Piloted commercially or in military within last 24 months
  • Complies with DOT/FAA drug and alcohol testing requirements
  • Able to perform essential flight functions satisfactorily

Job Qualifications

  • Commercial pilot certificate with instrument rating for category and class of aircraft
  • ATP rating in category preferred
  • Minimum 2500 total flight hours with at least 2000 hours in category
  • 1000 hours pilot-in-command time including 1000 hours rotor wing turbine time
  • 500 hours cross-country flight time
  • 150 hours night flight time
  • 100 hours actual or simulated instrument time with at least 50 hours actual in category
  • First-class FAA medical certificate required with annual renewal

Job Duties

  • Operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
  • Completes pre-flight inspections verifying aircraft airworthiness
  • Performs walk-around inspections before and after flights
  • Ensures aircraft and weather conditions are suitable for medical transport
  • Complies with Federal Aviation Regulations, Aeronautical Information Manual, and General Operations Manual
  • Maintains positive relationships with EMS, hospital staff, and colleagues
  • Participates in safety and operational training programs
