Job Requirements

  • Maintain a weight not to exceed 250 pounds
  • be under the age of 70
  • comply with FAA medical requirements
  • have flown in category for commercial operator or military within last 24 months
  • maintain positive relationships with colleagues, EMS, hospitals, and public
  • ability to perform under pressure and conduct flight planning with minimal notice
  • meet all flight time and certification requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Commercial pilot certificate with instrument rating
  • ATP rating in category and class of aircraft
  • valid first or second class FAA medical certificate
  • 2,000 total flight hours with 1,500 hours in category
  • 1,000 hours PIC in category
  • 500 hours rotor wing turbine time
  • 200 hours cross-country flight including 50 at night
  • 100 hours unaided night as PIC or 50 hours unaided night with 100 hours NVG time
  • 50 hours actual or hood instrument time in flight and category
  • associate's degree or equivalent education
  • two to five years related experience or training
  • knowledge of aircraft and medical systems
  • excellent interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Operate Air Methods' aircraft in a safe and legal manner
  • complete pre-flight inspections and verify airworthiness by signing off Daily Flight Log
  • perform complete walk-around before and after flights
  • maintain final authority for aircraft operations and passenger safety
  • ensure familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems including backup aircraft
  • complete required documentation accurately
  • conduct detailed flight planning with little notice
  • participate in meetings, projects, committees, and community outreach
  • prioritize safety in every aspect of flight operations
