Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED
  • At least one year related experience in Guest Services, Event Services, Facilities Management
  • Good supervisory skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform strenuous walking, standing, and climbing
  • Ability to operate motor vehicle and forklift
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying climate conditions

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED required
  • Minimum one year related experience in Guest Services, Event Services, or Facilities Management
  • Good supervisory skills and ability to work with student employees
  • Knowledge and experience with student centers, bookstores, and food services preferred
  • Knowledge of custodial services and equipment
  • Strong service orientation with ability to work with diverse people and situations
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to exercise human relations skills for positive interactions
  • Computer proficiency with office equipment
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds

Job Duties

  • Coordinate building scheduling to ensure timely set-up and take-down of events
  • Coordinate evening set-ups and take-downs including chairs, tables, room arrangements, and audio-visual needs
  • Collaborate with Student Government and clubs to support student activities
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the public
  • Keep current with audio-visual technology
  • Maintain and repair Gardner Center equipment
  • Supervise, train, hire, and schedule night shift part-time employees
  • Oversee building security and perform closing procedures
  • Compile daily reports including maintenance, customer counts, and incidents
  • Coordinate with Dining Services, Campus Store, and other departments for building maintenance and event needs
  • Work late evening hours and weekends as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
