Job Requirements

  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 1 year experience in guest services, general office, accounts receivable, or customer service
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to multitask and handle changing priorities
  • proficiency with telephone, fax, and switchboard equipment
  • physical ability to stand for long periods, walk extended distances, and lift 6-25 lbs
  • ability to work overtime and irregular hours
  • strong customer service orientation
  • basic computer literacy

Job Duties

  • Greet, register, and assign rooms to guests
  • issue room keys and escort instructions to Bell person or guests as appropriate without announcing room numbers
  • answer inquiries about hotel services, registration, shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions
  • keep records of room availability and guests accounts
  • make, confirm, and cancel reservations
  • compute bills, collect payments, and make change for guests
  • post charges such as room, food, liquor, or telephone
  • date-stamp, sort, and rack incoming mail and messages
  • transmit and receive messages using telephone, fax, and switchboard
  • understand and enforce hotel credit policies
  • account for all cash and make deposits
  • greet guests warmly
  • take responsibility for assigned employees in absence of Department Manager
  • assign work and ensure proper performance
  • make restaurant, transportation, or entertainment reservations
  • deposit guests valuables in hotel safe
  • order complimentary flowers or champagne for special guests
  • perform other duties as assigned
