Job Requirements
- High school diploma at a minimum
- 3 or more years of hotel operations experience preferred
- developed language skills in English for reading, writing, and speaking
- developed reasoning ability to carry out instructions and perform mathematical calculations
- proficiency in using company-issued computer software including Microsoft Office Suite
- ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
- effective communication skills
- ability to work well under stress and handle interruptions
- willingness to adapt to shift changes
- knowledge of safety and emergency procedures
- ability to maintain cleanliness at the front desk area
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma at a minimum
- 3 or more years of hotel operations experience preferred
- developed English language skills for reading and interpreting documents
- ability to write routine reports and correspondence accurately
- effective spoken English communication skills
- proficient in common computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Office 365, Outlook, and internet browsing
- capable of applying common sense to instructions
- basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculating discounts and percentages
- ability to read and interpret business records and statistical reports
- experience in customer service and cash handling
- strong interpersonal skills
- knowledge of front office equipment operations
Job Duties
- Registers guests and assigns rooms
- accommodates special requests whenever possible
- assists in pre-registration and blocking of rooms for reservations
- thoroughly understands and adheres to proper credit, check-cashing, and cash-handling policies and procedures
- understands room status and room status tracking
- knows room locations, types of rooms available, and room rates
- uses suggestive selling techniques to sell rooms and to promote other services of the hotel
- coordinates room status updates with the housekeeping department
- possesses a working knowledge of the reservations department
- files room keys
- knows how to use front office equipment
- processes guest check-outs
- posts and files all charges to guest, master, and city ledger accounts
- follows procedures for issuing and closing safe deposit boxes
- uses proper telephone etiquette
- uses proper mail, package, and message handling procedures
- reads and initials the pass-on log and bulletin board daily
- attends department meetings
- coordinates guestroom maintenance work with the engineering and maintenance division
- reports any unusual occurrences or requests to the manager or assistant manager
- knows all safety and emergency procedures
- maintains the cleanliness and neatness of the front desk area
- understands that business demands sometimes make it necessary to move employees from their accustomed shift to other shifts
