Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months previous front desk experience preferred but not required
  • High school level mathematical aptitude
  • Knowledge of standard cash handling procedures
  • Knowledge of computerized cash register systems
  • Experience in direct customer service
  • Fluency in oral and written English
  • Ability to read written communications and monochrome computer screens
  • Ability to operate computer, calculator, and telephone keyboards
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to handle stressful and emotional customer service situations with tact
  • Highly organized and detail oriented

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous front desk experience preferred but not required
  • Mathematical aptitude suitable for cash handling procedures
  • Knowledge of computerized cash register systems
  • Experience dealing directly with the public
  • Proficiency in oral and written English
  • Ability to read written communiques and monochrome computer screens
  • Competent in operating computer, calculator, and telephone keyboards
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Effective multitasking and communication skills
  • Ability to use tact and understanding in customer service situations
  • Highly organized with attention to detail

Job Duties

  • Greets and completes established check-in procedures for arriving guests using manual and computerized methods
  • Facilitates guest departure (check-out) by following established procedures to close guest accounts and prepare rooms for next guests
  • Calculates and posts monies, receipts, guest accounts and other credit forms accurately using proper cash handling methods
  • Answers inquiries and accepts reservations in person and by telephone, communicates hotel rates and uses suggestive selling techniques
  • Maintains good customer relations by staying informed about in-house and area functions to respond to questions and concerns
  • Operates PBX equipment to manage incoming/outgoing calls, wake-up calls and paging
  • Controls cash transactions at the front desk maintaining responsibility for personal bank as per hotel policies
  • Maintains a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management
