Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent work experience
  • Basic knowledge of tray identification system
  • Basic nutrition knowledge related to patient menu program
  • Skill in oral and written communication
  • Ability to work well under time constraints
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed instructions
  • Ability to communicate positively and cordially
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved exemption
  • Willingness to adhere to safety and sanitation protocols
  • Ability to maintain courtesy standards
  • Ability to assist in food service operations as directed

Job Duties

  • Delivers and retrieves patient trays
  • Assists patients with tray set-up as needed
  • Delivers nourishment and between-meal snacks to patients
  • Utilizes AIDET guidelines when interacting with patients
  • Stocks unit pantries as ordered in CaterTrax
  • Consults with team leader or supervisor regarding problems or conflicts
  • Reports meal service related problems to team leader or manager
  • Assists with tray and tray line set-up and simple food preparation
  • Communicates positively and cordially with patients, visitors, and staff
  • Assists with expedition of trays from tray line
  • Places hot beverages on trays in kitchen area
  • Retrieves dirty trays promptly
  • Covers other units as directed
  • Provides patients with hand sanitizer wipes before meals
  • Pours coffee and ensures it is fresh and hot
  • Maintains a courtesy score of 90 percent or above
  • Demonstrates fire safety knowledge
  • Demonstrates safe chemical usage knowledge
  • Demonstrates HACCP program knowledge
  • Maintains organization of coolers and storerooms
  • Scans patient trays at kitchen and delivery
  • Cleans work areas and delivery carts daily
  • Completes other duties assigned by management
