Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Six months previous customer service, receptionist, or public interaction experience preferably in a related setting such as recreation or arts
  • Ability to handle money accurately, conscientiously and honestly
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-usage environment
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including cash register drawer, computers, and telephones
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with city employees and the public
  • Ability to work independently without supervision
  • Basic knowledge of office procedures and computer applications
  • Willingness to work weekends, including possible overtime
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods
  • Physical ability to exert light work occasionally up to 20 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Six months previous customer service or receptionist experience preferably in a related setting such as recreation or arts
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Knowledge of city policies, procedures, and goals
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary
  • Knowledge of Rec Trac may be required
  • Skill in organizing and managing multiple tasks
  • Skill in maintaining filing systems
  • Skill in working independently without supervision
  • Ability to provide quality guest services
  • Ability to handle money accurately and honestly
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to apply policies and procedures

Job Duties

  • Perform front desk services and operations by providing excellent customer service including interacting with customers to answer questions and resolve problems
  • Direct customers to proper locations
  • Provide information
  • Schedule rooms
  • Make reservations
  • Check equipment in and out
  • Assist the public in general
  • Control facility admission including collecting drop-in fees and I.D. verification
  • Process membership registrations and punch card sales
  • Dispense photo I.D. cards
  • Perform cash handling in accordance with city and department cash handling policies including operating a cash register drawer and compiling daily cash balances and deposit reports
  • Communicate effectively with center patrons in person and over the telephone to market and promote programs and services
  • Communicate and enforce facility policies and procedures
  • Observe guest use and inform supervisors of improper facility or equipment use
  • Assist in the maintenance of various records such as inventory, activity reports, receipts, memberships, reservations, and minor financial accounts
  • Perform program registration during peak demand periods
  • Assist with special projects as assigned
  • Work opening and closing shifts as required
  • Train and mentor less experienced clerks on duties and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
