Job Requirements

  • Two or more years of customer service experience in retail, restaurant, hotel, healthcare, or similar customer-facing environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to respond to violent, aggressive, or disruptive patients and guests and involve public safety or police as appropriate
  • Demonstrated skills to build effective working relationships and collaborate
  • Ability to make quick and sound decisions
  • Ability to perform tasks efficiently and accurately under pressure
  • Working knowledge of Patient Rights and Responsibilities, Joint Commission standards, and Medicare/Medicaid regulations
  • Knowledge of data collection, compilation, and analytical techniques
  • Ability to comprehend and assess complaints to quickly locate resources for assistance
  • Working knowledge of the organization to resolve complex issues
  • Proficiency with Windows-based software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of computer systems used in functional area

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Proficiency with health-related computer systems
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build effective working relationships

Job Duties

  • Serve as a non-clinical resource and liaison for patients and their families
  • Provide support, guidance, and assistance for patients and families navigating complex healthcare environments
  • Increase patient and guest satisfaction by delivering excellent service
  • Issue identification badges at each patient and guest entry point
  • Act as a communication liaison to understand and address patients' and guests' needs, desires, and concerns
  • Guide patients and visitors about hospital services, amenities, and policies
  • Coordinate with discharge teams, patient transport teams, and other hospital units to meet patient and visitor needs
