Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members
  • experience or willingness to learn customer service skills
  • ability to operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment
  • capable of working in varying temperature and humidity
  • ability to lift and move merchandise up to 10 pounds frequently and 44 pounds occasionally without assistance
  • flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • reliable and prompt attendance
  • ability to remain mobile throughout scheduled shifts
  • basic cash handling skills
  • willingness to adhere to safety protocols and company policies

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior customer service experience a plus
  • strong communication skills including positive language and attentiveness to guest needs
  • ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • knowledge or willingness to learn about retail technology such as handheld scanners and the Target App
  • basic math skills for handling cash transactions

Job Duties

  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience by delivering the service standard
  • create a welcoming experience by authentically greeting all guests
  • observe to quickly understand whether a guest needs assistance or wants to interact and tailor approach accordingly
  • engage with guests genuinely including asking questions to better understand specific needs
  • be knowledgeable about tools, products, and services available to solve guest issues and improve experience
  • thank guests sincerely and let them know they are appreciated
  • scan and bag all guest items efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with food safety standards and company practices
  • work efficiently to minimize guest wait time while maintaining accuracy and quality
  • make guests aware of brand launches, store activities, and events
  • promote Target Loyalty programs and assist with applications or sign-up
  • demonstrate knowledge of Target App features such as Wallet and guide guests on their use
  • be familiar with all fulfillment services and direct guests to enroll, activate, and use them
  • handle returns by following register prompts and company policies, partnering with leaders when needed
  • assist in de-escalating negative situations with leaders to recover the guest experience
  • provide service for Order Pick Up, Drive Up, and Registry guests
  • maintain a clean and clutter-free work area
  • stock supplies during store hours while remaining available to guests
  • demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance
  • identify and correct hazards and comply with all safety policies
  • support guest services including compliance with adult beverage laws
  • perform other duties based on business needs
