Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred but a combination of education and experience will be considered
- Minimum three years of full-time equivalent experience in hotel and/or destination sales performance
- Knowledge of conference event management required
- Must possess or obtain Certified Meetings Professional (CMP) certification when eligibility requirements are met
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
- Must successfully pass background check
- Willingness to be considered essential personnel during emergencies including working long hours and unusual schedules
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing, Communications, Business or related field preferred
- Three years of full-time equivalent experience in hotel and/or destination sales performance
- Experience in hospitality industry and/or meetings event field preferred
- Thorough knowledge of conference event management
- Ability to obtain Certified Meetings Professional (CMP) certification
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Job Duties
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to attract conventions and meetings to the City of Hampton
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, hotels, and local businesses
- Exceed sales goals through proactive outreach and personalized customer service
- Coordinate with marketing and event teams to promote the city as a premier event destination
- Monitor trends in the hospitality and event industries to identify new business opportunities
- Negotiate contracts and manage event details to ensure client satisfaction
- Represent the City of Hampton at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions
