Job Requirements
- High school graduate or general education degree (GED)
- 1 plus years experience in group fitness instruction or willingness to become trained
- nationally recognized group fitness or aquatic fitness certification
- specialty certifications for Zumba, Yoga, Cycle, Pilates or others as necessary
- CPR/AED certification with hands-on assessment
- ability to operate personal computer using standard or customized software
- ability to instruct a 1 to 1.5 hour long fitness class
- physical ability to instruct fitness classes
- ability to plan and instruct safe and effective classes
- ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
- ability to use initiative and independent judgment
- strong organizational skills
- knowledge of fitness safety principles
- knowledge of principles for dealing with diverse populations
- knowledge of human anatomy and physiological function as related to classes
Job Qualifications

- ability to use initiative and independent judgment
- general ability to understand and apply music phrasing
- ability to apply integrity, ingenuity, inventiveness, and empathy in the performance of tasks
Job Duties
- Plans and leads group fitness classes as scheduled
- maintains a safe environment for group fitness instruction including providing information, demonstration and assistance regarding proper exercise techniques and inspecting equipment for damage
- secures substitutes for scheduled classes when unable to cover
- maintains accurate records of equipment issues updating equipment log as necessary
- promotes special events for customers and community members, including implementing special events when necessary
- accurately documents class attendance numbers
- provides needed information and demonstrations on work tasks to new employees
- fosters relationships with customers, coworkers, and others
- attends meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions to remain current on principles and practices
- assumes responsibility for other duties as required or assigned
