Job Requirements
- Less than high school education or equivalent
- One month of experience in greenhouse, landscaping, or related field
- Ability to use grounds maintenance tools such as blowers, chain saws, hand pruners, shovels, rakes, brooms
- Capability to operate various vehicles
- Ability to work Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, with possible weekend duties
- Physical ability to perform manual labor and operate machinery
- Willingness to respond to emergency calls as needed.
Job Qualifications
- Ability to read and understand written instructions
- Understanding of simple processes and routine machine operations
- Practical experience in greenhouse, landscaping, or related field
- Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance tools and equipment
- Ability to work independently or in a group
- Good physical condition for manual labor
- Familiarity with safety protocols in groundskeeping and landscaping.
Job Duties
- Maintains the grounds by cleaning sidewalks, mowing lawns, and trimming trees and shrubs
- Sweeps, loads wood debris, and feeds chipper
- Uses blower to remove sawdust, chips, and shavings
- Removes trees and stumps, operates chippers and stump grinders
- Rakes leaves, sweeps, and edges lawns
- Prepares and plants flower beds and seeds lawns
- Cares for plants and removes insects
- Picks up litter
- Secures areas for public safety in emergencies
- Clears streets and walkways
- Moves trash cans and loose pots
- Removes branches, bushes, and refuse from grounds
- Assists emergency personnel
- Responds to emergencies on call
- Assists with funeral services by erecting tents, digging graves, filling graves, disposing flowers, keeping records, and preparing reports
- Provides foundation service by digging holes, mixing and pouring concrete, moving and installing markers
- Operates and maintains vehicles and equipment by checking fluids, refueling, checking tire pressure, fuses and bulbs, cleaning, adjusting and sharpening tools
- Changes and sharpens chipper blades and stump grinder teeth
- Greases machinery.
