Job Requirements
- Must have a valid Mississippi motor vehicle operator's license
- Must pass background check
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in groundskeeping or maintenance preferred
- Ability to operate power tools and grounds equipment
- Ability to perform minor carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs
- Physical ability to perform manual labor and outdoor work
- Ability to follow safety guidelines and wear protective gear
- Ability to keep accurate records
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in groundskeeping or general maintenance work preferred
- Ability to operate groundskeeping equipment and power tools
- Knowledge of landscaping techniques including planting, pruning, and pest control
- Ability to perform minor repairs including carpentry, plumbing, and electrical tasks
- Valid Mississippi motor vehicle operator's license
- Ability to follow safety procedures and wear protective equipment
- Good physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor
- Basic record-keeping skills
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to pass background check
Job Duties
- Performs tasks common to the care of grounds and landscapes by seeding, watering, mulching, fertilizing, and applying chemicals to plantings
- Inspects plant materials for insects, disease, damage and identifies replacements
- Transplants, prunes, trims, and cultivates trees, shrubs, ground cover, and flowers
- Mows lawns with riding or push mowers
- Trims and edges around trees, shrubs, flowers, sidewalks and buildings
- Weeds and cleans flower beds and grounds using proper tools and equipment
- Sets up, adjusts, repairs, and cleans irrigation systems
- Keeps daily logs of watering and chemical spraying
- Installs, removes, repairs and maintains landscape lighting, parking meters, signs, fences, and other campus structures
- Removes trash and debris from public areas by raking, sweeping, and bagging
- Empties, cleans and disinfects trash and cigarette receptacles
- Operates snow removal equipment including snow blowers, tractors, and shovels
- Prepares outdoor locations for events by painting and marking fields and moving athletic equipment
- Applies chemicals safely using protective gear
- Operates grounds maintenance vehicles and equipment safely
- Performs routine maintenance and cleaning on equipment
- Replaces light bulbs, paints walls and furniture
- Performs minor carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs
- Delivers supplies and materials to correct locations
- Assists with management and accountability of surplus property items
- Performs custodial services in various buildings
- Contributes to a respectful and inclusive work environment
- Performs other related duties as assigned
