Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- completion of four years of progressively responsible experience in gardening and groundskeeping
- minimum two years supervisory experience
- knowledge of plant diseases, pests, herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers
- ability to operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment
- ability to plan, organize, and supervise work
- physical ability to perform manual labor
- excellent interpersonal skills
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or high school equivalent
- four years of progressively responsible experience as a gardener and groundskeeper
- two years in a supervisory capacity or equivalent combination of education and experience
- thorough knowledge of gardening and groundskeeping practices, plant diseases, pests, herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers
- skill in operation and maintenance of groundskeeping equipment
- ability to plan and organize work effectively
- strong supervisory and interpersonal skills
Job Duties
- Assists in planning annual schedules and prepares cost estimates for gardening and groundskeeping operation
- directs and supervises the work of several groundskeepers
- supervises and assists in watering and mowing lawns, pruning trees and shrubs
- inspects plants for diseases and recommends spaying procedures
- directs snow removal
- supervises training of employees
- orders supplies and equipment
- may supervise set-up of special events
- responsible for continuing assessment of maintenance program for district grounds and exterior facilities
- performs related work as required by administrators
