Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience communicating with co-workers and customers and following written instructions
- Understanding of retail policies and practices through previous retail experience
- Leadership skills in communication, interpersonal relations, management of people, customer relations, employee relations, analysis, planning and judgment
- Ability to perform basic math including add, subtract, divide and multiply and to compute weights and measures
- Ability to operate computers and windows software in a work setting
- Efficient and accurate operation of check stand equipment such as scales, scanners, and cash registers
- Ability to utilize computer programs for employee scheduling and product ordering
- Ability to work evening, night and weekend schedules
- Ability to perform supervisory duties including interviewing, scheduling, hiring, counseling, training and disciplining
- Excellent verbal, written, electronic and interpersonal communication skills
- Physical ability to perform safe and quick movements and operate equipment with manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
- Ability to perform duties involving mental alertness and potential hazards
- Ability to conduct visual inspections and read reports, manuals, etc
- Ability to calculate inventory
- Ability to stand, walk, move rapidly, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently
- Ability to perform repetitious arm and hand movements frequently
- Ability to work around machinery emitting heat and cold conditions
- Ability to reach, lift, stack and maneuver objects up to 50 lbs frequently
- Ability to push and pull fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks
- Ability to use cleaning chemicals and handle related food products
- Ability to perform primary duties with efficiency and accuracy
- Food handlers certification per state laws
- Must be 21 years or older
- Ability to operate office machines including computer terminal, copier/scanner, 10-key, fax machine, and telephone
- Ability to operate forklift, electric and manual pallet jack, push carts and hand trucks
- Ability to operate garbage and cardboard compactors
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous retail experience demonstrating understanding of overall policies and practices
- Experience providing leadership through communication, interpersonal, management of people, customer relations, employee relations, analysis, and planning
- Ability to perform basic math including add, subtract, divide and multiply
- Proficiency in operating computers and windows software
- Strong verbal, written, electronic and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to supervise including interviewing, scheduling, hiring, counseling, training, and disciplining
- Experience with merchandising plans and labor productivity goals
- Ability to maintain ethical business practices and lead by example
Job Duties
- Manages the Grocery department, ensuring compliance with WinCo Foods company policies, State and Federal laws and the store's collective bargaining agreement
- Monitors the hour to hour store appearance and conditions to ensure high standards of cleanliness, efficiency and productivity
- Maintains a safe environment for customers and employees thereby controlling general liability and workers' compensation costs
- Shows enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward fellow employees as well as customers
- Sets an example of personal integrity, appearance and ethical business practices which provides a standard of conduct for all store personnel
- Leads by example
- Monitors employee effectiveness and productivity and ensures efficient labor utilization in the grocery department
- Evaluates and implements store merchandising plans
- Performs store personnel functions as necessary, such as hiring, training, disciplinary decisions
- Performs delegated Store Manager responsibilities in the absence of Store Manager or as assigned
- Assists the Store Manager in achieving or exceeding projected labor and productivity goals
- Monitors and maintains the quality condition of all products
- Ensures that all products are stocked, rotated and faced and that outdated and spoiled products are appropriately managed
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed
