Job Duties
- Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently
- Understand and operate the Point of Sale system and handle various tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, loyalty offers, and coupons
- Rotate merchandise according to code dating policies and check product quality to ensure freshness
- Promote trust and respect among team members
- Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering product questions
- Maintain knowledge of products and make suggestions to customers
- Greet, engage, and assist customers
- Inform customers of grocery specials
- Order, label, stock, and inventory merchandise
- Report product ordering, shipping, and pricing discrepancies to store management
- Adhere to company policies on cash shortages, restricted sale items, and food safety regulations
- Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs
- Comply with safety programs and identify unsafe conditions
- Perform preventive maintenance and report equipment issues
- Notify management of accidents
- Follow all local, state, federal laws, and company guidelines
- Perform physical tasks such as standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing/pulling carts, bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, and repetitive hand/wrist motions
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment
- Manage conflict reasonably and nonconfrontationally
- Act with honesty and integrity
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
- Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
- Perform all essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation
