Job Duties
- Help customers discover new items or products they inquire about
- inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items
- check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell by dates
- provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products
- label, stock, and inventory department merchandise
- report product ordering or shipping discrepancies
- stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
- adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and maintain temperature logs
- gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to customer questions
- create a welcoming environment and answer questions regarding products
- reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions
- practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management
- notify management of customer or employee accidents
- work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- manage conflict in a reasonable and cooperative manner
- act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
- provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
