Job Duties
- Help customers discover new items or products they inquire about
- inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to ensure they get the products they want and need
- check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates taking appropriate action
- provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products they have ordered
- label, stock, and inventory department merchandise
- report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager
- stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads
- adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained
- gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions and make suggestions
- create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated
- reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions and notifying store management
- practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repair needs
- notify management of customer or employee accidents
- work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
- act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues
- provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
