Job Duties
- Help customers discover new items or products they inquire about
- Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to ensure their needs are met
- Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates taking appropriate action
- Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products they order
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise
- Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are recorded
- Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold and respond to questions or make suggestions
- Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering product-related questions
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and reporting unsafe conditions
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs needed
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues
- Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
