Job Duties
- Help customers discover new items or products they inquire about
- Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to meet their needs
- Check product quality to ensure freshness and review "sell by" dates taking appropriate action
- Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products they have ordered
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise
- Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are kept
- Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department to respond to questions and make suggestions
- Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues
- Provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
