Job Duties

  • Help customers discover new items or products they inquire about
  • inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items
  • check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell by dates
  • provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products they have ordered
  • label, stock, and inventory department merchandise
  • report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to the department manager
  • stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads
  • adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are recorded
  • gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department to respond to questions and make suggestions
  • create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions regarding products
  • reinforce safety by complying with procedures and reporting unsafe conditions
  • perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repair needs
  • report customer or employee accidents to management
  • work cooperatively in high-paced and stressful environments
  • manage conflict in a reasonable and cooperative manner
  • act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues
  • provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
