Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certificate preferred
  • cooking experience or culinary apprenticeship program preferred, but training provided if needed
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to pass background check and drug screening
  • ability to obtain and maintain required licenses or certificates
  • physical ability to stand for prolonged periods and handle up to 50 pounds
  • ability to work varying schedules including weekends, holidays, and on-call status
  • obtain local food handler card after hire

Job Qualifications

  • cooking experience or culinary/apprenticeship program preferred but not required
  • strong written and oral communication skills
  • ability to read, write and interpret instructions and recipes
  • basic math skills for measurements and portion control
  • ability to pass background check and drug screening
  • ability to obtain and maintain required licenses or certificates
  • knowledge of kitchen equipment operation
  • ability to follow sanitation and safety guidelines

Job Duties

  • Portray a positive attitude under all circumstances
  • set up, maintain, and control quality and presentation consistency of all food and menu items
  • prepare food in accordance with standard recipes and guest specifications
  • visually inspect and select fresh, quality food items
  • check and control proper storage and portion control, especially of high-cost meat and fish
  • keep refrigeration, storage, and working areas clean to comply with health and OSHA regulations
  • follow ServSafe and HACCP guidelines for food safety
  • ensure kitchen equipment is clean and functioning
  • prepare requisitions for supplies and process paperwork timely
  • maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards using approved procedures
  • assist executive chef and kitchen management as directed
  • perform other duties requested by supervisor
  • understand and comply with Eye, Hi, Goodbye program
  • maintain regular attendance
  • work varying schedules including weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed
